Privacy Policy
GruFit is an iPhone app for friends who stay active together. It is operated by Sai Srinivas ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information GruFit collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers the GruFit app and this website, which does not use cookies.
We do not sell your data or show ads. We use your Apple Health data only to provide GruFit's features. You can delete your account at any time in the app.
Information we collect
- Account: the account ID and email address that Apple or Google shares when you sign in, and your display name, time zone, goal and settings.
- Activity: with your permission, steps, walking and running distance, workouts and active energy from Apple Health. GruFit sends daily and hourly totals to our servers, not individual readings.
- Groups: the groups you create or join, and your points, results, reactions and streaks.
- Purchases: your Premium subscription status. Apple handles payments, so we never see your card details.
- Device and usage: a push token if you allow notifications, crash reports, and optional usage analytics. These do not include your health data, name or email address.
- Messages: what you send us when you contact support.
How we use it
We use your information to run GruFit (your goal, streak, groups, leaderboards, weekly recaps and notifications), to manage Premium, to keep the app reliable and secure, to improve it when analytics is on, and to answer your messages.
Apple Health data
We use Apple Health data only for GruFit's features. We never use it for advertising or marketing, never sell it, and never share it with advertisers or data brokers. GruFit does not write to Apple Health. You can turn off access at any time in Profile → Disconnect health data or in the Health app.
Who can see your activity
Members of groups you join can see your display name, avatar, steps, points, rank and whether you met your daily goal. They cannot see your goal itself. Anyone who finds a public group in search can see its members' names and the group's weekly step total. You can leave a group at any time.
Service providers
We use service providers for hosting, sign-in, notifications, payments, analytics, crash reports and email. They may use your information only to provide their services to us, and they must protect it as this policy describes. Some of them are outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where the law requires it, we use legal safeguards for these transfers.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while you have an account, and other records only as long as we need them. To delete your account, go to Profile → Delete account. We delete your activity, profile and group memberships. Past weekly recaps that other members have show "Deleted member" instead of your name. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription.
Your rights
You can change your information in the app, turn off analytics in Profile → Data use, and delete your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, to object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent. Email us to make a request.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, we rely on our contract with you, your consent (for Apple Health data and analytics) and our legitimate interest in keeping GruFit secure. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
GruFit is for people aged 13 and older. If you think a child under 13 is using GruFit, contact us and we will delete the account.
Security
We use encryption and access controls to protect your data. No system is completely secure.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you in the app about important changes.
